Dad's Day

My Dad is the Greatest.

He is tall in stature and large in heart...A Gentle Giant. Always loads of fun...we love to play music loudly and we both love Architecture and Photography. His three little grand-daughters love him dearly and have Poppie wrapped around their little finger.

We went to Africa together in January 2010 and i loved to see the way that the children & people of Uganda were drawn to him and could see his true character.

This weekend is Fathers Day and such a wonderful time to Honour our Dad's, our Uncle's, our Grandfather's, our Brother's and any other men that have influenced our lives. I'm grateful that i have had men in all of the above categories influence my life in a positive way.

We are going to have a BBQ in the sunshine...our favourite way to celebrate.

New Season

A new season is upon us...how exciting it is! To think that we have come out of this season of winter and into the start of something new -- a new season of spring.

Spring makes you want to get out of bed in the morning, the birds are singing louder, the blossoms are starting to bloom, the days are getting longer and warmer -- my favourite time of year...

Happy 1st Day of Spring (everyone in the Southern Hemisphere of course)...

Corkellis House // Linea Studio

I think I’m in love -- with this House and its Designer /Owner Kathryn Tyler. This simply stunning interior design by Kathryn Tyler of Linea Studio, bespoke sits with design classic and feels comfortable with vintage. Throw in wide open spaces, concrete floors, white walls and a workspace/studio to die for… I'll gladly have a home like this one day.

Kathryn's original plan to use her skills to build her own house on a tight hillside plot in her mum and dad's back garden in Falmouth, were put on hold when her father died. Now Kathryn has revived those plans and designed a Scandinavian-inspired eco house to fit into this extremely limited plot.
Although built from quite conventional materials, the house itself is far from normal. With a white painted brick ground floor, and a lightweight timber frame first floor, this cubist shell provides the interior designer a chance to show off her flair inside, with cleverly designed zones and beautifully displayed vintage Danish furniture.
What I loved about this house was Kathryn’s attention to detail, her perfectionism, and the way that she knew what she wanted and never swayed from it. Her plans were neat and concise with detail that was above and beyond.
The timber against the crisp whites and grays are so clean and fresh. The timber cladding on the upstairs of the building is spectacular.
This home has reignited my desire to further my studies in design...Thank you Kathryn for doing so and Well done Grand Designs for an inspiring episode -- keep 'em coming!

Hello Again

I have been hibernating this winter...the grey days and cold nights have been getting me down.

With the combination of busy days at work, no Internet at home and not much inspiration at the moment i have not been doing much at all -- only the following.

Watched a wonderful episode of Grand Designs last night...which has renewed some inspiration in me but more on that later!

Hello Again & Happy Monday

Another Year Older

It was my Birthday this week...another year older, another year to reflect on all the things I am grateful for.

It was a really great Birthday. Plenty of time spent with Family & Friends, copious amounts of laughter and scrumptious meals shared.

And I really was spoiled with presents -- extra points to my amazing husband for reading my blog and tracking down a box of these Pantone Postcards

Last Week // Winter Escape

Last week my husband and I went on a little winter escape to the Snowy Mountains (nsw) in a charming Hut with all the essentials...open fire, comfy lounge chairs, wine & cheese, fresh mountain air, hearty home cooked meals & a good book.

Here a few photos and I will share more details on the Hut later as it is a must to see especially if you want to completely escape from it all as there is no TV or mobile phone reception (ah bliss).

For now it is back to reality and dreaming of the day that we return to the Hut.
